Fun Facts about Khail
Khail is a collegiate, medaling rower! He was a rower by early morning, actor by day and night. It led to a certain discipline, a love of working out, as well as a love of collaboration (rowing being a team sport). It also is the reason he is such a water guy.
He also has experience with various movement related skills, specifically Suzuki movement and clowning/mask work. His Suzuki experience comes from learning, teaching, and performing the technique in college. It taught him the importance of stillness and specific movement in acting. Most importantly it instilled in him the idea of acting for something “greater than” myself. He learned about clowning and mask theater with Imago Theatre, performing in their “ZooZoo” production, playing such characters as a sleepy hippo wife and an accordion. That experience taught him how to act without his face, and instead use intentional, hyper specific movement to communicate character and story.
Khail has been fortunate to have some improv training. He was part of an improv troupe in high school, then a teacher’s assistant for an improv class in college, and most recently, he performed in a long form improv show in Portland. The long form improv show proved to be the most valuable, because he had to create a whole two act play each night, in the moment. It was one of the most scary and most exhilarating experiences he’s been a part of. It reminded him of the importance of truly listening as well as trusting his partners and his impulses.
